Barbara J. Love

Barbara J. Love, Emeritus Professor of Social Justice Education, UMASS, Amherst, is a former public school teacher with an academic background in History and Political Science. She has worked closely with schools and school systems throughout the United States and internationally. She was chair of the Amherst School Committee for many years. She has developed and led teacher education programs and has worked in staff development, curriculum development, multicultural organizational development and social justice education. She consults nationally and internationally on empowerment for women and People of the Global Majority, personal and organizational transformation, and on liberation. She has published widely on issues of social justice and liberation, including internalized racism, self-knowledge for social justice educators, and building alliances for change. She is greatly sought after as a keynote speaker and workshop leader.
